TEACHING, RESEARCH AND PUBLICATIONS
Recent Teaching and training for the Warwickshire Orthopaedic Registrar Training Programme and for Warwick University Medical Students. Published articles in journals and textbook mainly concerning upper limb surgery. Presentations and Research concerning hand and tendon Injuries. Presentations on other surgical topics in the UK, Hong Kong and Spain. Medicolegal presentations.
MEDICOLEGAL
Over 30 years Personal Injury and Medical Negligence experience. Approximately 200 – 250 reports per year, roughly equal numbers of Defence & Claimant reports. About 6 – 7000 reports provided over the years. In the last few years much more medical negligence work. Turnaround about 8 weeks from seeing the claimant.
Fees £500 for most standard length PI reports. Medical Negligence work is usually charged at the hourly rate of £250. Most negligence reports are in the range £750-£1500. Payments are to “Wade Medical” preferably within 3 months but I will accept end of case payments as long as the timescale is reasonable, say 2 years.
CURRENT CLINICAL ACTIVITY
I work part time, 4 days a week. Elective and trauma surgery, mainly upper limb, in Coventry and Leamington Spa, NHS and private. I will continue this for a further 5 years. On 31.12.16 I stopped working in the main orthopaedic unit where I had been on the consultant staff for 29 years. The Orthopaedic Unit in Coventry is a teaching and level 1 trauma unit serving a wide area and covering about 1,000,000 population. The specialist elective orthopaedic service covers all subspecialties. The academic Unit provides the training for Warwick Medical Students and the orthopaedic registrar training programme.
